Dera Ismail Khan: At least 10 militants stormed District Police Officer (DPO) office in Dera Ismail Khan district of Pakistan’s northwestern province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing four people, including a policeman and three civilians on Saturday.
According to reports, the militants clad in police uniforms attacked the DPO office and hurled hand grenade. The attackers were armed with heavy weapons.
Heavy contingent of Pakistan army also reached the area to assist the police .
Two suicide bombers were gunned down by the police while other sources claimed that the suicide bombers blew themselves up. They said the militants entered the office through main gate. The injured police men were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the DPO was present in his office when the attack took place. He told a private television that two of suicide bomber had blown themselves up while a bomber was gunned down by the police.
The attack comes at the time when the government and the country’s military are at loggerheads  over an alleged memogate.
