Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party leader and Member National Assembly Jamshed Dasti who has announced to leave the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) may join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that Jamshed Dasto has remained in constant touch with PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi. However, Dasti said he did not decide to join any other party so far.
Dasti told media that he would contest next general election as an independent candidate. He said that he was facing pressure in his constituency and it was impossible for him to work for people of his constituency by remaining in the PPP. He was once again elected as MNA from Muzaffargarh NA-178.
Dasti said he would resign from the PPP either the leadership approved it or not. He added that lawmakers from south Punjab had opposed party decision of giving ticket to Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.
