Srinagar: Three paramilitary CRPF men were killed and another injured in a fratricide incident at a security camp in Kashmir.
Police sources said during the preceding night, there was a heated argument between paramilitary men in the barracks in a security camp in Kulgam, some 50 kms south of Srinagar. “The heated argument followed by a shoot-out and three paramilitary men died and another was critically injured in the shoot-out,” they said.
They said soldiers P Sibbu and Suma Pillai were killed on spot while two others identified as Javaid Hussain and S D Murthy sustained critical bullet injuries. “They were shifted to hospital, where
Javaid succumbed to injuries. The doctors have termed condition of Murthy as critical,” they said.
Meanwhile, police has launched an investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the fratricide incident. Top police officials and forensic experts visited the spot to take stock of the situation.
“We have detained six CRPF men, who were present in the camp at the time of the shootout, for questioning. We have also seized their weapons,” a senior police official said.
This is the first incident of fratricide related killings among men in uniform in Kashmir this year.
