Karachi: Dacoits on Tuesday robbed an estimate of about Rs5.3 million from a private bank in the Lasbela Chowk.
According to police around six robbers entered the bank at 10:15am and held the staff hostage and snatched the weapons from bank guards.
SSP Niaz Ahmed Khosa said the security of the bank is not up to the mark and banks should take adequate measures to prevent such incidents.
He said that initial investigations suggest that there is one group which has been robbing banks in city for the past few months. He added that the Taliban might be behind the group taking the stolen amount to Wana, Waziristan.
He said that the robbers took away the CCTV footage with them.
