Islamabad: The Saarc Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Saarc CCI) is organizing a seminar under the theme of “Promoting Saarc globally as Destination South Asia” to celebrate ‘26th Anniversary of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc)’ on Dec 9, 2011 in Islamabad – Pakistan.
Saarc Charter Day is celebrated to express solidarity and spread the mission and vision of the Saarc Charter adopted at the time of the creation of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) on 8th of December in 1985, comprising of eight countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with a clear manifestation of the people of South Asia, to cooperate with each other in search of solutions for their common problems.
The seminar will be addressed by Mr. Mushahid Hussain Syed, Secretary General of Pakistan (Q-Wing), Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, President FPCCI, Mr. Tariq Sayeed, Immediate past President Saarc CCI, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President and other lead speakers including Gopal Baglay, Dy. High Commissioner of India, Mr. Durga Parasad Bhandari, Dy. High Commissioner of Nepal, Mr. Aftab Ahmad Chaudhry, Secretary General of South Asian Federation of Exchanges while Mr. Iqbal Tabish, Secretary General of Saarc CCI will moderate the session.
The seminar will be attended by the senior diplomats from Saarc member and observer countries in Pakistan, CEOs/Presidents of Saarc affiliated institutions, business leaders, academic experts, professionals, women entrepreneurs and civil society representatives etc.
