Islamabad: Director General Military Operations Major General Ashfaq Nadeem on Thursday briefed the Federal cabinet about Nato raid on Pakistani check-posts in Mohmand Agency that killed 24 soldiers.
The cabinet meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. The DG MO told the cabinet members that the Nato attack was deliberately launched. Some members asked as to why the attack was not repulsed. The military commander told them that retaliation was not allowed to armed forces while communication system was also destroyed during the attack.
He vowed that future attacks would be retaliated with full force.
The cabinet was also briefed by the prime minister about Asif Ali Zardari’s health who has been undergoing medical tests and checkups in Dubai, sparking rumors of silent military coup.
The cabinet also prayed for the earlier recovery of the president. Gilani told the meeting that the president was reluctant to leave for Dubai for medical checkup but his family persuaded him to proceed.
