Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered chief secretaries of four provinces to recover encroached land of Pakistan Railways (PR).
The orders came during the hearing of railway pensioners case on Wednesday. Former railway minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed was also present during the hearing.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who was heading the bench said the PR would be restored but those who were involved in the corruption would be punished.
The court ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to invesgtigate those element named in the railway audit report.
He also directed the authorities to organize a meeting between Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and engineers concerned for the restoration of the PR.
During the hearing the SC was told that as much as 35,000Â acres land of the PR was encroached by the different institutions.
