Madrid: The world top two tennis players Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer expressing disapproval on the option to play on blue surface for the 2012 Madrid Masters championship.
The The 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer said that, it’s very sad to take part on a blue surface and several top players might skip from the 2012 Madrid Masters tournament. He added he is confused whether he should rate the change negative or positive and tournament organizer should obey players’ advice.
The 10-time major title holder Rafael Nadal disapproved strongly to move of changing the color of clay to blue this year, which Madrid Masters will be last tournament for the players to better prepare for the French Open. Nadal was the world’s leading player on clay court with six French Open titles.
The Madrid Masters tournament organizer Ion Tiriac said that, he has been trying to change the color from two years to traditional orange or red to blue, which the blue surface was better for television.
Ion Tiriac said 300 to 500 million viewers will be watching Madrid Masters championship this year, where it helps to show game better on Television will all respect.
The 30-year-old Federer surprised that Nadal’s fight against blue surface, which the tournament will play in his own country. Swiss maestro said organizers should respect player’s decision and expressed sadness to Nadal, which he doesn’t want to play on blue surface.
