Islamabad: Constitutional expert and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on Friday said that the government was constitutionally bound to impalement the decisions of the apex court.
Talking to journalists outside the Supreme Court following the rejection of government’s review petition in NRO case, Aitzaz Ahsan said that under Article 248 of the constitution, the president had immunity from court proceedings.
To a question, he said that though the government implemented all he decisions of the apex court, it delayed the execution of the verdicts to some extend.
Earlier, the Supreme Court rejected government’s petition, seeking review the apex court’s verdict on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). A full-court of the SC announced the verdict on the government’s application after its counsel Babar Awan didn’t appear before the court to produce certain documents for which he was allowed by the 17-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
