Islamabad: Former United States National Security Advisor and a retired US Marine Corps General James Logan Jones has said that he had received the memo from Mansoor Ijaz and passed on it from Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz to Admiral Mike Mullen.
According to the report, General Jones confirmed his role as conduit to the correspondent of Pakistan’s local daily The News via email but wanted to make it clear he was not a serving government official or associated with the United States administration in any way when he passed on the memo from Ijaz to Mullen.
“I was not in government on May 10 when I forwarded the message to Admiral Mullen on 10 May,” General Jones said.
