Johannesburg: South Africa were leading by 199 runs with seven wickets in hands when the play ended on the third day of the second test against Australia on Saturday, thanks to big half centuries by Hashim Amla and AB deVilliers.
Amla was not out on 89 and deVilliers on 70. In the whole day, Australian bowlers managed to take only two wickets. Smith (36) was caught by Hughes off the bowling of Lyon. Jacques Rudolph (24) was caught behind off the bowling of Cummins who also got Kallis (2) caught by Clarke.
South Africa scored 266 in the first innings. Australia scored 296 to get a lead of 30 runs.
South Africa won the first test.
