Karachi: A local court declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sindh chapter, Vice-President Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi as absconder in a land grabbing case.
The court has issued arrest warrants for the PTI leader after accepting challan. However, police have failed to arrest him so far.
According to The News Tribe correspondent, Syed Mushtaq has filed an application with District and Session Judge, East, Sadiq Hussain Bhatti against the PTI leader. In his petition, he said that the hooligans of Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi had illegally occupied his 40 acres of agricultural land in Thatta on September 17, 2008.
Later, the PTI leader offered him Rs12 million to stop him from initiating legal action. The petitioner added that he accepted the offer as he had no other option. But, later, Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi backtracked from his earlier offer and forcefully made him agree to accept only Rs6.4 million and get his signatures on the documents. Syed Mushtaq said that he was paid the money through six cheques which proved bounced.
He said that police did not register the case against the PTI leader.
On this, the Judge ordered the SHO of Gulistan-e-Johar police station to file the case. The FIR was registered on August 11, 2011. The investigation officer informed the court that the bank had confirmed that the cheques given to Syed Mushtaq were bounced.
