Islamabad: Former Deputy Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told the Supreme Court of Pakistan that he was receiving life threats by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and could provide more details to the court in this regard.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case on Monday.
Wasim Sajjad, representing Chaudhrys said that Qureshi was blaming a respectable family as it had been in politics for four decades but never got killed anyone.
“Chaudry Shujaat Hussain’s dignity is beyond any doubt,” the CJ remarked. He said seeing sensitivity of the NICL case the court might summon NAB chief.
“IG police is also present in the court and I think he is not coward like FIA chief,” the CJ added.
The court inquired as to why the trial court released Moonis Elahi in the NICL case. “Will government challenge his release as NICL was looted and it is a federal entity, Justice Ameer Hani Muslim questioned Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq. The AG kept mum over the question and avoidsed giving any answer.
Wasim Sajjad said that Qureshi had not given details on who gives him threats. Qureshi told the court that he got the information from reliable sources and would give more details to the court in this regard if it sought.
Qureshi told the court that Rs. 402 million yet to be received from Moonis Elahi and Moshin Waraich.
He told that a writing expert had confirmed writing of a manager of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi during the investigation into the NICL case.
