Maldives: Pakistani and Indian prime ministers met in the Maldives in the sidelines of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) here on Thursday .
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh met few days after Islamabad granted the most favoured nation (MFN) status to India.
Both the prime ministers discussed issues ranging from terrorism, bilateral trade, water dispute and Kashmir. Official sources said the meeting lasted for 90 minutes.
Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Manmohan Singh said that India wanted peaceful solution of all the disputes with Pakistan.
He hoped that the next meeting would be more productive.
Gilani said that issues, including Kashmir, Sir Creek, water and terrorism were discussed in the meeting.
He thanked India for backing Pakistan in the Security Council and the European Union.
Singh said that the time had come to write a new chapter in Indo-Pak relations.
The two prime ministers last met in March when Gilani accepted Singh’s invitation to watch the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup semi-final.
