Lahore: The lawyers fraternity across Pakistan is observing Black Day against the November, 3, 2007 emergency declared by the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, deposing apex court judges and seizing basic human rights.
The Supreme Court Bar Association, Pakistan Bar Council and others lawyer’s bodies in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pukhtunkha and Gilgit Baltistan have declared a black day against the emergency.
The lawyers wore black armbands and chanted slogans against Muhsarraf while local courts gave a deserted look as the lawyers didn’t appear before the courts. Judges of the Lahore High Court also sat in their chamber after a request made by the lawyers to show solidarity with them.
