Tel Aviv: Israel has planned to build 2,000 illegal settlement units in East Jerusalem (al-Quds) in the West Bank.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the plan in a statement issued on Tuesday, Associated Press reported.
Israel has made numerous decisions to expand illegal homes in the occupied Palestinian territories over the past few months.
In September 2011, the European Union (EU) criticized the Jewish government for the illegal procedure in the occupied territories.
Expansion of illegal settlements in Palestine was resumed by Israel in September 2010, after a 10-month partial freeze.
The move prompted the Palestinian Authority (PA) to break off the US-sponsored talks with the Tel Aviv regime that had been resumed after a lengthy stalemate.
