Charges against ISI are part of US strategy

Washington: An American paper claimed that charges leveled against ISI about involvement in attack on US embassy in Afghanistan were baseless.

The charge was leveled to bring the Haqqani Network to negotiation table, revealed the papers. In 1990, the same method was adopted to force the Serb rebels to talk. But this time-tested method hasn’t proved successful in the case of Taliban, said the paper.

The paper claimed that the US wanted Pakistan’s help to force Taliban and Haqqani network for dialogue through ISI.

The US also said that in case of failed talks, unilateral operation will be taken against the Taliban.

The paper also said that the US changed its policy after stepping up of attacks against US soldiers in Afghanistan.
