Islamabad: Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan has written a letter to the islamabad foreign ministry to cancel its liquor quota.
According to sources, import of about 60 litters per year of wine and 120 liter of beer per year are allowed to each foreign diplomat.
When contacted for his official version Afghan embassy Cultural and Press Attaché Zardasht Shams said, “Yes such a letter was written to Pakistani foreign ministry to cancel the quota as it was not suiting Islamic face of Afghanistan.”
Probably, this was the first task that the ambassador fulfilled after his appointment and the quota was cancelled, he said.
It is pertinent to mention that Embassy of Saudi Arabia had also urged Pakistani authorities to cancel the allowance wine to their diplomats.
