Karachi: Despite targeted operations by Rangers and police, there has been a recent disclosure of massive cache of illegal weapons in the metropolis.
Three activists of a religious party arrested by intelligence agencies six days ago have disclosed that in Aug 2011, they were informed by their sector in-charge Furqan Qadri that using the money collected as fitrana (Islamic charity fund), 12 T T pistols and four MP5 rifles had been purchased and were to be distributed equally among units.
The three workers are Zain-ul-Abidin, Muhammad Aslam alias langoor and Muhammad Nasir Qadri.
During the investigations, Nasir Qadri said that he was involved in 29 murders, mostly following refusal to give extortion money. He also confessed to torching six Mazda buses.
He also disclosed that his associates, Furqan Qadri, Faisal Gandri, Rehan alias Bhaloo, Faisal alias Makka, Nadeem Qadri and others were also involved in these attacks.
Zain-ul-Abidin alias Zebu has also confessed to killing 21 persons out of which six were killed during firing on a bus, and five were killed during a standoff in New Karachi.
He also confessed to have torched 3 buses and robbing 6 homes to purchase weapons.
Aslam alias Langoor admitted to have been involved in 12 murders including that of a woman.Â
