Islamabad: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has moved a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging appointment of Admiral Retired Fasih Bokhari as National Accountability Bureau (Nab) Chairman.
The17-point petition has been filed under section 184, praying the court to declare the appointment as null and void as necessary consultation was not made in this regard. The petition stated that meaningful consultation was not made with the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The petition stated the appointment of Bokhari was in sheer violation of court orders in this regard.
It noted that the Nab chief be stopped from working. Besides, raising questions about the ability of President Asif Ali Zardari who made the appointment.
It further stated that several cases against Zardari was pending in the Nab. The petition also sought stay orders.
