Harare: New Zealand defeated Zimbabwe in the first ODI of 3-match series by nine wickets at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Rob Nicol and Brendon McCullum scored 108 and 39 runs not out respectively while Martin Guptill scored 74 runs. They chased the total of 232 runs in the 44th over for the loss of one wicket.
Chanu Chibhabha got one wicket.
Earlier Zimbabwean skipper Brendon Taylor won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 231 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Taylor scored 128 runs while Forester Mutizwa scored 69 runs.
Doug Bracewell grabbed three wickets while James Franklin got two wickets. Adny Mckay took one wicket.
Nicol was declared man of the match.
