Harare: New Zealand thrashed Zimbabwe on Saturday by 10 wickets in their first T20 match as the host bowlers failed to stop the bat of Brendon McCullum from hitting sixes.
Chasing a total of 124, New Zealand reached 127 in only the 14th over.
McCullum scored 81 from just 46 balls with the help of six sixes and five fours. He was ably supported by Guptill who scored 40 off 36 including two sixes and two fours.
Zimbabwe had a poor start as both of its openers failed to reach double figures. Brendon Taylor scored 50 not out and gave the Zimbabwean total some respectability with the help of small partnerships with the lower middle order batsmen.
Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum took two wickets each.
