Faisalabad: A 16-year boy, allegedly tortured and burned by police, passed away on Friday in Allied Hospital.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the death of the youth and directed Punjab Inspector General of Police to submit report on the custodial killing within 24 hours.
According to details, Inspector Muhammad Saeed arrested Azeem of Faisalabad’s Chak-7 on suspicion of theft on September 9.
Azeem was doused in petrol and set ablaze after alleged torture in police custody. He was admitted to Allied Hospital and his family was informed.
City Police Officer Rai Tahir, taking notice of the incident, suspended and arrested three police personnel including Inspector Saeed.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah assured the bereaved family that the culprits would be meted out with strict punishment after their culpability is substantiated.
