Sahiwal: PML-N candidate Pir Khizar Hayat Shah Khagga has won the by-poll for PP-220, Sahiwal.
The PML-N candidate defeated PML-Q and PPP’s joint candidate Pir Muzaffar Shah Khagga with a big margin of over 21,000 votes.
According to unofficial results, Khizar Khagga bagged 40,180 votes, while his opponent Muzaffar Khagga got 20,703.
The PML-Q has rejected the election result, saying the PML-N had the mandate of patwaris, not of public.
Skirmishes and clashes between PML-N and PML-Q workers were reported from various polling stations.
The seat fell vacant following the disqualification of former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid MPA Pir Walayat Shah Khagga in a fake degree case.
For the election, 160 polling stations were set up. The number of registered voters in the constituency is 136,925.
