Islamabad: The federal cabinet in its special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani agreed to seek approval of two weekly offs from the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to cope with the energy crisis in the country.
The meeting also decided to shut down marriage halls at 10 pm and converting streets lights and bill boards to LED lights.
It was proposed that electricity to agricultural tube wells be provided from 10 pm to 8am. The cabinet also proposed shutting down markets after sunset.
According to sources, leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will respond to the cabinet’s proposals within two to three days.
The meeting also proposed to impose new tax on gas consumers .
