Quetta: As many as 4,500 Baloch recruits of Pakistan Army took oath in a ceremony held here.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was the chief guest. Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani also attended the ceremony.
The recruits took oath of Pakistan’s loyalty, vowing that they would not indulge in politics.
There have been adequate vacancies in Baloch regiment, but due to illiteracy and ignorance of local youth there has been less representation of Baloch youth in the military. The inclusion of Baloch youth in the powerful military of the nuclear armed nation is being considered a step toward national integrity.
