London: Mazhar Mahmood of the News of The World, a tabloid no longer published, has presented another audio tape of Mazhar Majeed, a sports bookie, in the Southwark Crown Court.
In the new tape, Majeed is heard demanding $1.2 million for fixing the Oval Test.
Majeed claimed match fixing was a ‘centuries-old’ practice and accused former Pakistan cricketers Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Ijaz Ahmed and Moin Khan of being involved in match fixing. He dubbed the Australian cricketers as the ‘biggest’ bookies.
But Australia chief executive James Sutherland has dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and “outlandish”.
