Karachi: Rangers on late Thursday conducted search operation against religious parties in Karachi and arrested at least two dozen activists of religious parties including 11 supporters of Sunni Tereek.
According to ST spokesman, Rangers conducted raid on ST’s head office in Ranchore Line near Civil Hospital Karachi and arrested eight party workers including two central leaders – Shahdi Ghauri and Mobeen Qadri. Ranger also raided ST office in Block 3 area of North Nazimabad and arrested three ST workers, the spokesman added.
Ranger sources told The News Tribe correspondent in Karachi that they recovered two TT pistols during Nazimabad raid.
Sources said Rangers also raided the house of former ST leader Abbas Qadri but there was no confirm report in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that religious parties have already announced shutter down strike on Friday against the death sentence awarded by Lahore High Court to Mumtaz Qadri – who killed former governor Punjab Salman Taseer.
The ST spokesman said Mumtaz Qadri was not only the hero of Pakistan but also the hero of Muslim ummah.
