Washington: US newspaper New York Times has revealed that the National Security Adviser in the Obama Administration Thomas E Donilon had secretly met with Pakistan’s Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in the UAE and conveyed his harsh message regarding the Haqqani Network.
According to the newspaper, Thomas E Donilon pressurised Pak Army to take strict action against the Haqqanis in Pakistan.
It also wrote that the US had threatened Pakistan for the action and said that if action is not taken then CIA could increase drone attacks.
It is pertinent to mention here that the US officials also met with some members of Haqqani Network few days ago and invited them for dialogue to end the Afghan War.
New York Times said that these meeting shows the sensitivity of Afghan war for the US.
