Karachi: International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University (KU) has organized a four-day workshop on Structural Biology at Dr Punjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) Seminar Hall.
Over 10 scientists from various institutions of different countries of the world, including Germany, Turkey, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri lanka, and Sudan have participated in the international workshop, while overall 50 participants attended the event, jointly organised by Dr Punjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine & Drug Research and COMSTECH. The primary objective of the workshop was to develop understanding of the emerging disciplines of structural biology.
Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary has inaugurated the workshop and also delivered a comprehensive lecture on the topic. In the augural session, Dr. Atia-tul-Wahab of PCMD, the organizer of the workshop, said, “We made special efforts to make sure young Pakistani scholars all over the country benefit from the very important event in emerging field of structural biology.”
Prof. Dr. Christian Betzel, a renowned structural biologist of Germany, also delivered his lecture on the occasion. Conversely, KU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi has participated as chief guest at the concluding session of the workshop and delivered a special lecture on Structural Biology.
