Washington: The United States has designated five members of Haqqani Network including a commander of the terrorists group – Abdul Aziz Khan – as a foreign terrorists, blocked all their properties interests subject to US jurisdiction and restricted Americans from engaging in transactions with or for the benefit of them.
US Treasury Department confirmed in a press statement that they banned five Haqqani network members.
Abaseen is the Shadow Governor for Argon District of Paktika Province of Afghanistan and a commander of the Haqqani Network, a Taliban-affiliated militants group.
Of the five, one was a Pakistani national – Abdur Rehman – who runs – according to US – runs a seminary in Karachi. However, identities of the remaining three were yet to be known.
US accused Pakistan’s primary intelligence agency ISI of supporting Haqqani group that operates from North Waziristan Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan.
The Haqqani Network has been at the forefront of insurgent activity in Afghanistan, responsible for many high-profile attacks.
