Earlier, leadership of all the political and religious parties, Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Khalid Shamim Wayyin and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Let Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha reached Prime Minister House to attend the moot. PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badr welcomed the participants
ISI chief General Pasha and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will brief the participant over the regional situation and level of relations with the United States.
Gilani in his opening address said that national sovereignty was the government’s top most priority and the APC was convened to evolve consensus.
He said,”Pakistan rejects all the allegations leveled by the US and demands recognition of sacrifices rendered by us”, he said and added “US allegations shocked us and negate out sacrifices in war on terror. “You cant ask us to do more” . Gilani said that political leadership and the nation was on same page over national sovereignty.
The prime minister said that Pakistan was strong enough to face all the challenges, adding that clash of big powers in Afghanistan cast disastrous impacts in the region.
“We are proud of our armed forces who never disappointed the nation on any occasion” he said, adding that Pakistan extended maximum cooperation to bring peace in Afghanistan but ” martyrdom of Burhanuddin Rabbani affected peace efforts”, Our doors are open for talks “.
