Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has cancelled his visit to the United Kingdom in the wake of US threats of sending ground troops in the hot pursuit of militants belonging to Haqqani network inside Pakistani territory.
Sources in The UK’s foreign office have also confirmed the report.
Top US official have hurled serious allegations against the South Asian ally in the war against terror since its embassy was attacked by militants what they described members of Haqqani network based in Pakistan’s tribal region. While The US outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Mike Mullen last week accused Pakistan’s principle spy agency of patronizing Haqqais. However, Pakistan strongly rejected the allegations and termed them as baseless.
Meanwhile China’s deputy prime minister has also reached Pakistan on two day visit.
