New Dheli: India has claimed that International Arbitration Court did not order it to stop all work on Kishenganga Dam, a day after the court gave its interim verdict on the issue.
Indian official news agency Press Trust of India said Sunday that it had received a copy of court’s verdict and according to it is “open to India to continue with all works relating to the Kishenganga Hydro-Electric Project ‘except’ any permanent works on or above the Kishenganga-Neelum riverbed at the Gurez site that may inhibit the restoration of the full flow of that river to its natural channel”.
The news agency said, India was allowed to temporary stop the Kishangaga-Neelum River for shoveling up the riverbed. Court will make final decision at the end of 2012 or in 2013, it said.
Pakistan had approached the International Arbitration Court against India on illegal construction at Kishenanga Dam, which would Pakistan’s water.
