Karachi: At least eight people including six policemen were killed and around six injured when a car blast exploded outside the residence of SSP CID Investigation, Chaudhry Aslam Khan in Karachi, the southern city of Pakistan.
Sources confirmed that SSP CID Investigation Chaudhry Aslam remained safe at his house located near Darakhshan police station. Police sources confirmed that the death toll reached to eight and termed the blast a suicide attack.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area.
They informed that a car laden with explosives rammed into the residence of SSP CID Investigation Chaudhry Aslam by an alleged suicide bomber, leaving six cars destroyed completely while others partly damaged.
Eyewitness said the sound of explosion was heard in the area of five kilometer, which shattered the window panes. The blast created a deep creator at the site.
The injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital including many private hospitals.
Sources said that two passers by, a mother and her daughter were among the deceased
Chaudhry Aslam said that he knew who was behind the attack and he would get the attackers. He said that Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were threatening him.
Hospital sources told The News Tribe, the dead include, Mumtaz Begum 35 and her 13 year old son Moin, Police constable, Nizanuddin, Ilm Deen, Junaid, Sohail, Qayyum while identity of body was yet to be ascertained.
Home Minister Manzoor Wasna has announced a Rs.2 million for each police official.
