New York: Prime Minister Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is due to arrive in New York on September 20 to attend the 65th annual meeting of UN General Assembly.
Leading a 62-member delegation, he would be speaking at the forum on September 23. The Pakistani mission at UN has announced that the delegation would also include Pakistan’s foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Finance minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, federal petroleum minister Dr. Asim and federal minister for privatization, Syed Naveed Qamar.
ANP head Asfandyar Wali, parliamentarians Waseem Akhtar of MQM, FATA’s Munir Orakzai, PML-F’s Jam Mangrio, PML-Q’s Arshad Ahmad, and many other parliamentarians would also be included in the delegation.
Khar would be arriving in New York on September 18, and attend the UN session the very next day. She is also expected to lobby for Pakistan’s non-permanent seat at the Security Council; which would hopefully honor Pakistan within next two years.
The First Lady of Pakistan, Fauzia Gilani, daughter Fiza Gilani, and grandson Asfandyar would also accompany the delegation.
The PM would be accompanied by official media representatives, while private media has been excluded.
The final date of the departure would be announced during coming few days, and PM, along with the delegation would be putting up at Hotel Roosevelt, where 65 rooms have been booked, and dozens of luxury vehicles have also been booked for the delegation.
