Rawalpindi: Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) has granted permission to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for sending four-member judicial commission to India for completing the investigations regarding Mumbai attacks.
Now a delegation comprising FIA Prosecutor , two lawyers of the accused and a coordinator would visit India to record the statements of Mumbai Police officer, Ramesh Mahanay Chief Investigation Officer of the case, lady magistrate Mrs R.M. Samand Bagolay ann two doctors who carried out postmortem of the terrorists.
When in-camera proceedings of the case were resumed on Saturday at Adiyala Jail, prosecutor of FIA Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali submitted the documents containing 54 pages provided by India regarding the case. Judge ATC Shahid Rafiq recorded the statement of forensic expert and Deputy Director FIA Rehman Ashraf, who verified these documents.
He told the court that the terrorists talked on telephone with their cohorts in India with three mobile numbers and all three SIM cards were purchased form Karachi through VOI account.
It is pertinent to mention here that terrorists attacked at Taj Hotel, Obray Hotel and Railway Station on 26 November 2008. Indian law enforcement agencies started a retaliation operation in which as many as nine terrorists alongwith several people were killed.
Alleged mastermind of the case Ajmal Kasab and Irshad Ansari were arrested. Latter Indian court awarded capital punishment to Kasab while Ansari was released
After the attacks Pakistani authorities arrested as many as seven persons including a commander of defunct Jihadi outfit Maulana Zaki-ur-Rehnman Lakhvi on the charges that they all provided support to the terrorists which conducted Mumbai assault.
