Karachi: Consul General of United States at Karachi William Martin called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House on Wednesday.
Both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest. CM Sindh apprised the US Consul General about the big losses caused due to recent rains affecting lower Sindh.
Shah said that there is big disaster in six affected districts of Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Mirpurkhas where there are losses on large scale. He further said that the big area of district Badin has been inundated with rain water resulting spread of epidemic diseases.
CM Sindh informed the Consul General about one million people are affected due to heavy rains in these affected districts while crops have also been damaged, and infrastructure of roads, buildings and other construction have been damaged. Shah added that various international agencies, NGO’s and other organizations are taking part in relief activities, which is very essential.
He also stressed upon philanthropists and other welfare institutions to extends cooperation for the purpose.
The US Counsel General assured the Chief Minister Sindh that the USA government will cooperate in this regard. The Principal Secretary to CM Sindh Alamuddin Bullo was also present on the occasion.
