Karachi/London: Some very important developments have been achieved in Dr Imran Farooq’s case, leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) who was stabbed to death some one year back in London. Two people suspected of killing Dr Farooq were arrested from Karachi while another three suspects were apprehend from London, sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that the two suspects were arrested on August 22 – on a tip off of a British intelligence agency – from Karachi Airport when they reached the airport from Sri Lanka.
They reached Sri Lanka on April 22 from Singapore and stayed there till August 22, the sources added that, both the arrested suspects have been sent to Islamabad for further investigation. Both the suspects are hail from a political party but there affiliation will be public at an appropriate time, the sources said.
Meanwhile, Scotland Yard police have also arrested three suspects from London.
According to the source, some 35 cops of the Scotland Yard Police raided two different spots in London and arrested three more suspects.
The police raided an office and a house and took documents and equipment into their custody from there for interrogation.
The sources added that the investigation has been extended to Pakistan as the police have started interrogation from the suspects regarding their links in the country. They did not provide any further details about the suspects, saying the nature of the case is very sensitive and they cannot provide more details unless any further development is made.
But the police are hopeful that they would soon trace and arrest the real faces involved into the murder.
