Tripoli: NATO assisted Libyan rebels have claimed that they have overthrown the four decades long rules of Muammar Gaddafi after six-month-long battle.
There are controversial reports about Gaddafi arrest. Rebels have also claimed to arrest Gaddafi’s two sons Saif al Islam and Mohammad.
But International Criminal Court in a statement said Gaddafi has not been arrested so far while his sons have confirmed been arrested.
Reuters has also reported that Gaddafi has not been arrested so far.
Meanwhile, thousands of rebels are celebrating their victory at Green Square, considered center of Libyan government. They are chanting slogans and carrying placard and national flags.
On the other hand British media reported that intensified battle between the rebels and forces loyal to Gaddafi was continued. British media also reported that rebel forces converging on Tripoli as they reached outskirts of the Libyan capital.
There were also controversial reports that Libyan leader has fled to Al Jazeera.
Earlier, NATO spokeswoman said in a statement that we are watching Gaddafi government near to its end, and Gaddafi should understand that he could not win this war.
But, Gaddafi said in an audio message played over state television he was “afraid that Tripoli will burn” and he said he would provide weapons to supporters to fight off the rebels. He also said that he would fight till his last breath but not leave the country.
While, Gaddai spokesman Moosa Ibrahim said “they are ready for peace negotiation with interim council if they stopped killing people.
He said NATO has no right to kill our people. He said in today’s battle over 1300 people have been killed and the number of casualty may rise.
He said “NATO is rocketing our streets and killing our people and also supporting rebels. NATO will be held responsible for the killing this night, last night and coming night.”
United States said that rebels should plan for future.
