Islamabad: The recent destructions caused to cotton crops in Sindh by the flesh floods has given rise to the fears that cotton production target for the current year would be missed.
An office-bearer Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association told The News Tribe that the cotton crops in Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, Thattaand Gharo had been badly hit by the torrential rains and floods.
Due to the widespread destruction caused to cotton crop it is feared that the current year production target might not be achieved, he added.
The PGA official said that cotton prices on Thursday recorded increase, Punjab cotton up by Rs100 selling at 6,600 per maund,while the Sindh cotton recorded a rise of Rs50 stood at Rs6,250 per maund.
