Hambantota: Australia defeated Sri Lanka in the second one day international by eight wickets at Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on Sunday. Australia lead the five-match series by 2-0.
Sri Lanka captain Tilakratne Dilsha won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 208 runs all out in 49.3 overs.
Kumar Sangakkara scored 52 runs while Anejlo Methews, Nuwan Kulasekara and Dilshan scored 35, 34 and 24 runs respectively.
Doug Bollinger got three wickets while Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson shared two wickets each. Shaun Watson, David Hussy and Xavier Deherty took one wicket each.
Australia chased the target for the loss of two wickets. Rickey Ponting scored 90 runs not out while Micheal Clarke and Watson scored 58 and 43 runs respectively.
From Sri Lanka, Lasith Malinga and Kulasekara got one wicket each.
Rickey Ponting was declared man of the match.
