Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan, Justice (R) Hamid Ali Mirza, has given deadline to Federal Minister Sardar Israrullah Zehri to prove the authenticity of his degree till 24 September failing which case for fraud would be registered against him.
CEC has directed the employees of election commission that the case regarding bogus educational degrees might be finalized at an early date so that action may be taken against bogus degree holder parliamentarians under the instructions of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The sources said that the CEC given last chance to Senator and Federal Minister Zehri and two members of provincial assembly that they may prove that their degrees are original by 24 September otherwise concerned police department would be asked to register the case of fraud and forgery against them.
Besides Senator Israr Ullah Zehri, two other MPAs including Muhammad Khan Toor elected from PB-16 (Baluchistan) and Ijaz Ahmad Lone elected from PP-209 (Punjab) were also issues notices.
Another MPA Sohail Kamran sought some time to prove his degree original. In his application he requested CEC to stop the proceedings against him till he may prove the legitimacy of his degree.
