Trent Bridge: India was crashed by England in the second Test of four-match series by 319 runs on the fourth day at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Monday.
Tim Bresnan took five wickets and James Anderson took three as India were bundled out for 158 in their second innings chasing a mammoth victory target of 478 runs.
With this win, England have taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the four-Test series.
India lost their ninth wicket when Anderson clean bowled Praveen Kumar for 25.
Bresnan registered his maiden five-wicket haul when he dismissed Harbhajan Singh.
Harbhajan hit a six and 8 fours in his 44-ball 46 before Bresnan had him caught by substitute fielder SL Elstone at fine leg.
James Anderson dismissed Sachin Tendulkar for the seventh time when he trapped the Indian icon plumb in front of the wicket.
Tendulkar made a grave error in judgement when he shouldered arms to an incoming delivery.
Fighting a lone battle, Tendulkar hit his 60th half-century and hit eight boundaries in his 56-run knock.
With a 52-run partnership, Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh took India over the 100-run mark in their second innings after tea.
England took five wickets for 60 runs in the second session to leave India tottering at 68/6 at tea.
Tim Bresnan dismissed Yuvraj Singh and Indian captain MS Dhoni off successive deliveries to reduce India to 55/6.
Yuvraj (8) was peppered by short deliveries and the plan finally paid off as he was caught by Alastair Cook on backward short leg close to the bat.
Dhoni shouldered arms to an incoming delivery and was trapped plumb in front of the wicket for a first ball duck.
Bresnan dismissed Abhinav Mukund and Suresh Raina in his successive overs to reduce India to 37/4.
Raina (1) edged a bouncer by Bresnan straight into the hands of substitute fielder SL Elstone at fine leg.
India lost their third wicket when Bresnan had Mukund (3) caught by Andrew Strauss at first slip off a bouncer.
James Anderson clean bowled VVS Laxman in the second over after lunch to reduce India to 13/2 in their second innings.
Anderson got the breakthrough with a delivery that held its line and did not swing in as expected by Laxman (4) and uprooted his off-stump.
India were 8/1 at lunch after Stuart Broad dismissed Rahul Dravid in the fourth over of the visitors’ second innings.
Broad had the in-form Dravid caught behind by Matt Prior to ensure that India got off to a bad start in pursuit of 478-run victory target.
Earlier, Praveen Kumar took four wickets as India finally managed to bowl out England for 544 runs in their second innings.
England batted with supreme confidence in the second innings after an average first innings performance.
