Islamabad: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed the TV channels to stay away from giving live coverage to religious parties’ rallies and protests.
In this regard the authority on Sunday issued a directive for the TV channels which said live coverage of a particular religious parry’s rally or protest demonstration could cause heart burning for the rival party or the general public. It could create feelings of hatred among communities, the directive further said.
Besides, the directive further said, the live coverage of religious parties’ rallies could also create law and order problems for the government. Such coverage is also a violation of PEMRA rules, it said.
