Rawalpindi: A senior civil judge on Monday sent Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Anjum Aqeel to jail on 14-day judicial remand in a fraud case.
Aqeel was produced before the court amid tight security. Aqeel has been facing land fraud and attack on police charges.
The PML-N chieg Nawaz Sharif constituted a four-member committee headed by senior leader Rajaz Zafarul Haq to probe the allegations against Aqeel. The committee in its report termed the allegations against the lawmaker as a conspiracy. The PML-N chief expressing his dissatisfaction of the report asked the committee to issue a show-cause notice to Aqeel, who caused irreparable damage to the party’ image.
