Karachi: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has denied any role of government in Karachi violence.
He said that the government was not involved in the turmoil. He rejected the statement of MQM Leader Mustafa Kamal. Musatafa Kamal had alleged government involvement in the recent killing of its workers. Sharjeel Memon said that he rejects Mustafa Kamal’s statement. He termed the charge of government’s involvement in the recent violence as baseless.
Sharjeel Memon claimed that only two or three people had died in the recent wave of violence that hit Karachi. Contrary to his claims most of the media has reported over 17 deaths in the recent violence. Sharjeel Memon further claimed that the situation in Karachi had improved. Naming Landhi and Malir, he said that peace had been restored in those areas.
He termed Karachi turmoil to be the cause of clash between two groups and negated the impression that the violence was a result of tension between two political parties.
Sharjeel Memon called for the continuation of the process of reconciliation. He said that the government wanted to address the reservation of its coalition partners.
