Cairo: Deposed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has fallen into a coma, state TV reported on Sunday.
“The former president is in a full coma after his health suddenly deteriorated,” the report said.
Mubarak is under police detention at a hospital in the resort area of Sharm el-Sheikh ahead of a trial in August on charges of killing hundreds of anti-regime protesters.
His lawyers had said that he (Mubarak) was being treated for stomach cancer but the Health Ministry said there was no proof the 83-year-old had the disease.
Mubarak ruled Egypt for 30-year but was toppled in February amid mass revolts against his autocratic rule.
