Islamabad: Member National Assembly, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Ajnum Aqeel was escaped from police custody while he was shifting to police station late on Friday.
Inspector General Police Islamabad, Bin Yamin said that the MNA was escaped after some 50 people attacked the police vehicle in which he was shifting to Shalimar Police Station.
PML-N leader Anjum Aqeel was accused of fraud cases and land scandals. He was arrested on Thursday from Islamabad, the IGP added.
He said that two police personnel were also tortured in the incident.
He has said that investigation teams have been formed to arrest the involved persons. While, seven persons involved in the incident have been arrested.
The IG said that SP Nadeem Hasan and SHO Fayyaz Tanoli have also been detained while involved police personnel would also be arrested soon.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has taken the notice of the incident and sought report of the incident from IG Islamabad within 24 hours.
