Lahore: President Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and Rubina Irfan, Chairperson Women Committee is left for Frankfurt, Germany to participate in the 5th FIFA Women’s Football Symposium.
This three-day event will be held in Frankfurt on 15 and 17 July 2011, on the eve of the FIFA’s 6th Women’s World Cup Germany.
According to the press release issued by PFF, One hundred and ninety-six of FIFA’s 208 member associations are taking part in the event, and of these, 150 countries chose to send their president, general secretary or both. Total of almost 500 delegates are expected to participate in the symposium.
While leaving for Frankfurt, President PFF has said that Women’s football has become a worldwide sporting phenomenon and a key driver of growth for the sport of football all around the world. Today, some 26 million women and girls play football and one in every ten football players on this planet is a female. Women’s football is growing not only in absolute terms each year, but also in parts of the world where it has perhaps not been traditionally strong. But the development process requires a combination of policies and proactive measures for their implementation.
President PFF further said that Women play a big part in football and I think behind all good footballers, there are some good women.
Rubina Irfan, Chairperson Women Committee said that a huge part of my role as a member of the Chairperson Women Committee is to be a pioneer for women’s soccer… to be pushing women’s soccer in Pakistan in line with the vision of President PFF and showing that it’s a beautiful sport, a beautiful game and that women should follow it.
FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany 26 June through to 17 July. Two-time defending world champions Germany are in Pool A with Canada, Nigeria and France. Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and England make up pool B while United States, North Korea, Colombia and Sweden are in pool C. Pre-tournament favorites Brazil, Australia, Equatorial Guinea and Norway are in pool D.
